Almost perfect I had this idea and then checked the market to find Garthy has beat me to it! Anyway, the app works on HTC Desire, but you have to select the app from the notification bar and then press #, it's not quite automatic, so 4 stars well done.

No good Just seemed to freeze my phone (HTC wildfire s) when I tried to call an 0800 number.

Not intercepting Tried dial through dialer ex and also the stock dialer. Just get o2 giving the standard message about not being free and redialing and I dropping the 0. This will then be charged at o2 rates. Have emailed the DEV, will update if fixed.
