This app is amazing and super helpful in seeing if there's any aurora activity nearby and worldwide, has a built-in interactive map with the predicted aurora forecast for the moment (updated in real-time) and the NOAA predictions map as well. You may subscribe for reminders, notifications etc... but there's enough free info here to let you know what you need to know. I use this app in conjunction with like 4 other apps to get predictions for the aurora in my area.

My background is a UX-designer who researched the aurora for my college degree. Informed by the Dutch navy and spaceweatherlive themselves. Already I can see that this has everything related to forecasting the northern lights in a well-thought-out, user-friendly interface. The most important aspects of the solar wind are included, while removing clutter. It succeeds at giving the information needed. User observations are what sets this apart, as the data can only do so much.

This app is only useful to NASA scientists. I am a lady person interested in predicting when I could see the lights. The metrics presented are unclear of their significance to the probability of seeing the aurora.

Well, my neighbors watched the lights all night last night and I missed it, based on this app saying 1% chance and showing what I now see is an outdated forecast map. Will use my own eyes moving forward, good luck...
