I spend a lot of time in the backcountry, hiking, hunting, fishing and generally roaming around. For each activity, I have some specialty apps but BC Nav XE app is the one that seamlessly bridges all activities and the one that I rely on the most for actual navigation rather than waypoints, ground feature references or sat imagery. I've tried a few others like Gaia and All Trails and while they are useful in their own way, the true test of an apps usefulness is the frequency with which the user goes back to it instead of other alternatives. This app was easy to become habitual towards although much of that was the presence of the BC Back roads Maps product. While BCMB have their own app products, this app is superior in every way and if I was part of the Mussio management, I'd be looking to buy out this app and hire the developer. Honestly, if you are on the fence, give this app a try. It is a great product and the developer works harder than most to continuously improve it.

The developer is responsive and currently looking into map download problems. The app has been my favorite go-to for my off-road adventures for years. I like the simplicity and being able to create and edit trips both on the web and on my phone. Having access to all the different kinds of maps is a huge plus. I have hopes the download issues will be fixed soon.

Installed it download some map couple days later tried to download another map, and it would not work. I had a pay for it, so I told backcountry navigator about it. They said try cleaning the apps cache. So I tried that now l can't even sign in. So I told Google Pay about it and said if could not get working I want my money back. I'm not paying for something that doesn't work. They did refund my money.

Loved Backcountry Navigator Pro but with current Android updates it doesn't really work anymore. So I thought I would try the new version, but I keep getting an error message when attempting to download maps that the app doesn't have permissions to write to external memory, which my phone doesn't have. Looks like new overly stringent Android write to memory restrictions are messing up a lot of what used to be good apps.
