Invasion of France 1940 (turn-limit)

★★★★★ I'm a beginner when it comes to war games, especially these Hex and Counter type ones but even I can tell that this is a real cut above the rest. You play as Germany invading France attempting to take 3 port towns before pushing on to take Paris. The UI is wonderfully simple to use and each unit has all the information you need. There's a little mini-map in the corner to give you an overview of the whole battlefield which can be re-sized or turned off completely; which brings me to another point. There are numerous options to tailor the game to your own preferences, and the game itself is engaging and addictive. One thing I noticed in this 20 turn free edition is the relative ease with which I managed to push back the French forces. I've since bought the full version and can tell you that there are numerous difficulty levels to choose from ranging from 'Ultra Easy right the way up to Ultra Hard', which pleased me immensely. Extremely highly recommended. Buy it!
