I use this app for peak bagging Sierra Club's Hundred Peak List. This is the best app I haveI tested and it is completely FREE. Other apps might be free, but you need to pay additional subscription for download topo maps to you phone for offline use. Big plus is Headbanger can import Google Earth KML files into this app to display tracks. This is how I use the map: before I set out for bagging a mountain, I launch Headbanger, search for that peak in app and save that peak for offline use. Next I go to HundredPeakSection to download KML file for that peak to my phone. Open that KML file with Headbanger and voilà. I do mostly solo hike so Headbanger provides me a peace of mind knowing that I am never lost as long as GPS and phone works. Of course a traditional map, compass and be familiarized with your route is a must. This iapp is a backup. Make sure to bring external phone batteries as backup.

Super useful maps, and It's easy to upload peoples gps tracks into the app for offline use in mountaineering

Love this app, but I can't add my ascents to certain peaks. They show on the app, but no option to bag it! Is there a way??

I expected more. For nothing there are 12 people who have climbed the peak, if none of them has the route. Then who should I compare myself to? I don't have the possibility, or I haven't seen, to sync the app with my watch.

Terrible useless app. Can't search range or anything. Been an ACC member for 30 years and a HI lifetime member. Since you can't search by images of peaks and see recommended repels or hiking descents it's about as useful as a pad of sticky notes and a magic marker. It's literally a travel journal that has zero mountaineering/climbing functionality. It is the same as the notes app on your phone. Extremely disappointed. Huge waste of time.

Spyware!? Needs to STOP running in the background! Update: I don't use your
app for GPS. I open it to check local weather, and then I close it. Samsung
detects it running in the background.... aka wasting data, battery and
spying on my location. I shut off it's background data usage and force quit
it.
