One of the best informed and accessible scientific reviews available to the public. (Even my daughter, a dancer by profession, loves the magazine.) Remains fundamentally objective with its approaches to a multitude of scientific endeavors, maintaining open forms to critical review by their audience. I have subscribed for almost four decades. Highly recommended.

This app makes it quite easy to read Scientific American online. It has its little annoyances though. It doesn't remember your place when you come back later to continue reading. There's no dark mode, unfortunately. I've been reading SA for about 50 years and I have to say it's certainly changed. The articles are not as in depth as they once were. Not as many of those great hand drawn diagrams explaining complex topics.

Interesting article. Refreshing to know that the Uber puzzle of consciousness is getting scientific attention. In this case through the lens and practice of advanced meditation. Also an indirect angle on the relationship between science and traditional wisdom as in religions.
★★☆☆☆
You MUST know in advance that Scientific American is a FAR LEFT rag that emphasizes LEFT WING make believe nonsense over clear Scientific analysis. It is NOT the magazine that once focused on science. I dare them to prove otherwise! In fact, I would not be surprised if they block this comment.

Idiots could not sort out my app based subscription, because in some sense the app is completely unrelated to the main magazine organization. No idea. Not apologetic about all the mess, my fault for not understanding their complex internal structure. But they still bombard me with marketing. I'm a scientist, but my experience has left me determined never to buy this magazine again.
★★☆☆☆
If you are going to subscribe, go online or get physical mag subscription. Otherwise, despite screenshots of app confirming subscription and credit card payment SciAm will claim you need to talk to Google for refund or help (you are a subscriber to the app not their magazine). And Google will direct you back to SciAm (repeatedly). Neither will honor a refund policy nor fix your problem. You'll be left taking it up with your credit card company.

Downloading issues has issues. I'm not sure why there's an option to download articles because you can't read them unless you're online. If I'm not online when I start the app the screen sits blank with the spinning wheel. If I want to read offline I have to go somewhere with Wi-Fi or cell service, start the app, let the menu load, and then I can read downloaded articles if I lose service. 🤔 Very poor design from a magazine that is supposed to be on the cutting edge of science.
