My son is enjoying learning his spellings with this app. It's easy to set up new tests and good to see which words he is struggling with. One thing that is really annoying is that we are using the app on a Chromebook, not a tablet, and the in-built keyboard isn't supported. So he has to use the mouse pad to click on the letters on the keyboard on the screen. If you could add support for using the actual keyboard then that would be great.

This app is really very good and the best spelling app I've found. I use the family library option on Google Play Store, so my kids have a copy on each tablet - its good value anyway. Just a few comments. My kids love the game but will lose interest after a while, I'd like other games to be unlocked or collectable stickers when they reach a certain score. I expect my kids to use this app for over a year, so this boomerang game will be no incentive. Collecting reward cards or badges could be used like they do at school and could be exchanged for real world rewards as you see fit - a treat, a trip out or quality time with someone (anything). You can view stats of the spelling tests by group of test, but I cannot see an overall review, would be good to have a visual chart and overall progress data. I'd love to see a pie chart or bar graph to instantly see all test group progress. At the moment you have to check each one and scroll and select tests. The keyboard uppercase/lowercase should match the word you're spelling and type the same - confusing kids. Anyway great app but let's get more fun into it to drive the hard work because for me this app is working well.

This ago works fine on my phone; Samsung S7, but the playback / recording
volume does not work properly on my Lenovo tablet; TB8504F running Android
7.1.1. When creating custom tests it does record, but the playback is so
quiet you can barely hear it. I have tested that the microphone works
correctly using recorder app and checked playback volume, it is on maximum
and is booming if playing from YouTube. Don't understand what the problem
is, but it makes the app completely unusable for custom tests on a tablet.
One thing I have noticed is that when using the key stage tests, the
difference between voice volume compared to the other notification sounds
is much greater on the tablet. On the phone they are all a similar level,
on the tablet the voice playback is much quieter than the notifications,
though not nearly as quiet as when they are your own recordings.

First spelling test and the app keeps closing. It's not timing out it just shuts down completely. Refund my $6! Not worth it!

Updated review two years after first trying app. Primary need is custom tests, but management functionality has been implemented poorly, is painful to use, and has not improved in the last two years. A fully functional website or dedicated app is needed to make custom test management more efficient and a more streamlined sharing method is needed (e.g. sharing codes, public repos, etc.). Text to Speech, functionality available in all modern OSs, would significantly simplify custom test creation.
